## The counterintuitive move that repeats

Four articles independently arrive at the same paradox: **relinquishing control is the path to more value, not less.**

- Negotiation makes it a slogan: [[quote-give-them-none]] — "the way to empower negotiators… is not to give them more authority but to give them none." Zero authority ([[contrarian-zero-authority]]) frees a negotiator from over-conceding and from vetoes, turning them into an explorer.

The unifying insight: at scale and across boundaries, tight control produces **brittleness** — hardened interfaces, padded mandates, lowest-common-denominator outcomes. Deliberate looseness produces **adaptability**.
