# Understanding of Claude Projects

## What you need to know first

The video assumes the viewer can already set up and populate a **Claude Project** — see [[concept-claude-projects]].

## Why it matters

[[concept-claude-skills]] hold **instructions but not knowledge**. They rely on the surrounding Project's knowledge base (brand guidelines, target audience, past successful scripts) to produce brand-accurate output. Without a properly configured Project:

- The Skill still executes its workflow.
- But the outputs revert to generic LLM defaults.
- Brand voice, tone, and audience-fit collapse.

This is exactly the failure mode described in [[claim-vending-machine-usage]] — running a Skill without a Project context is just a fancier vending machine.

## Minimum Project setup

- Brand voice document (do/don't language, sample phrases).
- Past hits — 5–10 examples of best-performing scripts/captions.
- Audience profile (who they are, what they care about, what they reject).
- Visual brand reference (for thumbnail/B-roll skills): color hex codes, typography, face reference image.
